This week’s vendor spotlight is on Kathie’s Superseedz, a no-shell pumpkin seed company. It all started when Kathie wanted something with more flavor and crunch on her salads. She had tried almonds and peanuts, but pepitas were the winner, they are also allergy friendly. “So Kathie started making her own no shell, seasoned pumpkin seeds in her kitchen. Flavor was critical. Each seasoning had to be memorable, the ingredients had to be natural, and each seed had to be perfectly roasted. She used unique, wonderful seasonings and developed a proprietary dry roasting process that resulted in the perfect seed.”
She had made these seeds, but they kept disappearing from her cabinets, her kids were stealing them. “Her picky eaters loved the seeds, and so did their friends, so Kathie began selling them at local fairs and farmers markets. A company was soon born: Kathie’s Kitchen.” Ever since then the company has continued to grow. We carry three flavors of Kathie’s, Maple Sugar Sea Salt, Sea Salt, and Somewhat Spicy, adding to our nut and seed collection!
